  • Realm Loyalty
Realm loyalty is an important aspect of Dark Age of Camelot as it helps foster community and ultimately forms the backbone of RvR. To encourage that, we're implementing a realm loyalty bonus that extends from XP to Atlas Orbs.

    Starting the Loyalty Timer (top)

Upon killing anything in a realm, this starts a "loyalty" timer for that Account (and realm)--if a loyalty timer does not already exist.

Loyalty timers only reset under the following conditions:
    • If a player logs in on a different realm and engages in RvR, the timer progress for the previous realm is immediately reset to 0 and a new timer beings for the current realm.
    • If a player logs in on a different realm and engages in PvE, the timer's progress for the previous realm is maintained, but decays at 2x the rate loyalty would normally build for a non-loyal realm.
Note #1: Participating in Battlegrounds constitutes a PvE "activity." This means that loyalty progress will not reset completely when playing in Battlegrounds on other realms. Instead, the standard 2x decay rate for PvE will apply.

    Building Loyalty (top)

Loyalty rewards are built up over the course of 30 days, raising in 24-hour increments while a player remains loyal to one realm.

Note: The 24-hour timer is based on a standard calendar day, not actual play time.

The maximum allowable loyalty bonus applied is based on a player's current progress toward the 30-day cap. For example:
    • Day 1: 1/30th of the loyalty benefit (3.33 %)
    • Day 10: 10/30th (30%)
    • Day 15: 15/30th (50%)
    • Day 25: 25/30th (83.33%)
    • Day 30: 30/30th (100%)
The loyalty bonus effectively rewards players that play for a specific realm over a prolonged period of time, with bonuses increasing over the course of 30 days. Players may still freely change realms as they desire, but at the expense of any realm bonuses built up.

In a way, this is a "timed nerf" intended to slightly discourage realm-hopping, while incentivizing sticking with a realm through its high and low points.

The player's current loyalty levels can be checked using the command `/loyalty`

    Realm Loyalty Rewards(top)

The longer a player dedicates toward the success of their realm, the more rewards they stand to earn as a result. There exists two categories of reward as part of realm loyalty:
    1. Scaling rewards
    2. Static rewards
Scaling rewards provide a dynamic benefit based on a player's built-up of loyalty days for a specific realm. As your loyalty increases (i.e., more days spent logged in on only one realm), so too will the value of any scaled rewards. Static rewards are granted upon achieving loyalty milestones, and will remain available as long as a player's loyalty days stay above the required value associated with the reward.

    Scaling Rewards (top)

Below are all the maximum rewards available with realm loyalty upon hitting the 30-day loyalty bonus cap:
    • +25% XP from all sources
    • +20% Atlas Orbs from all sources
    • 30-second reduction in XP Item global cooldown timer
    • 50% out-of-class ROG chance (detailed below)
    • Up to 20% bonus chance to get orbs when killing some epic creatures

Static Rewards (Not Yet Implemented) (top)

Below are the proposed static rewards that will be granted to players as they achieve milestones toward the 30-day loyalty bonus cap:
    • 10 loyalty days: Free realm-specific dye colorings
    • 20 loyalty days: Free realm-specific weapon effects
    • 30 loyalty days: Title(s), and access to realm-specific reskins
Note: Again, static rewards have not been implemented yet, these are simply proposed rewards.

    Effort-based Milestones(top)

By contributing to your respective realm, you can can "lock in" loyalty for that realm by completing certain heroic feats. With each achievement completed, a minimum loyalty "floor" will be established or raised. This floor acts as a permanent starting point for loyalty days whenever a player's loyalty timer resets as a result of participating in another realm. As an added bonus, a player's realm loyalty may never decay below the floor established by these milestones.

The following milestones are stackable and may be repeated:
    • Capturing a Relic: 2 days
    • Capturing 25 keeps: 1 day
For example, a player on Albion participated in 2 relic captures, 27 keep takes, which totals to 5 loyalty days. If that player were to then log in on Midgard and participate in RvR, their loyalty timer for Albion would reset. However, it would not drop below 5 days. Upon logging back in on Albion, their loyalty timer would then begin at 5 days and continue up to the maximum amount of 30 days. As a result, they immediately receive the static and scaling rewards associated with that number of loyalty days.

    New Players (Road to 50)(top)

Loyalty progress is not reset and will not decay upon switching realms while on a "new" Account. However, once a player reaches level 50 on any character for an Account, they are no longer a "new" account. At this point, any further realm swaps onward will result in the expected loyalty day reset/decay rate.

This behavior is intended to give new players the opportunity to try out each realm and more easily obtain their first level 50 character before being penalized.

    Out-of-Class ROGs(top)

Ungrouped players at level 50 have the ability to receive ROGs generated using a class that is not their own.

Players may use the new '/classrogs' command to choose what percent of out-of-class drops they desire. The base rate of this is 0%, and realm characters with no loyalty will not be able to go above 0%. The maximum cap is increased to 50%, which is available at maximum loyalty (30 days).

    Example #1

    Fen has 100% Hibernia loyalty.

Fen logs in on Midgard and starts to level a Skald in an attempt to figure out what the heck Catkain is always going on about. Fen reaches level 20 after a night of leveling and logs off until the following day. The following describes how his realm loyalty is affected based on this latest activity:
    1. Day 2: Fen has 3.33% (+3.33%) Mid loyalty and 93.34% (-6.66%) Hib loyalty.
    2. Day 3: Fen has 6.66% (+3.33%) Mid loyalty and 86.68% (-6.66%) Hib loyalty.
    3. Day 4: Fen logs in on Hibernia and goes back to leveling his Fenchanter.
    4. Day 4: Fen has 90% (+3.33%) Hib loyalty and 0% (-6.66) Mid loyalty.

    Practical Example 2

    Fen has 100% Hibernia loyalty.

Fen logs in on Midgard and starts to level a Skald in an attempt to figure out what the heck Catkain is always going on about. Fen reaches level 20 after a night of leveling and logs off until the following day. The following describes how his realm loyalty is affected based on this latest activity:
    1. Day 2: Fen has 3.33% (+3.33%) Mid loyalty and 93.34% (-6.66%) Hib loyalty.
    2. Fen logs in on Mid and decides to go have some fun in Thidranki with his new Skald.

    Practical Example 3

    Fen has 100% Hibernia loyalty.

Fen levels a Skald to the mid-30s. Catkain was actually right--this class is amazing, this class is life. After Day 8, Fen has 26.66% (+3.33% * 8) Mid loyalty and 46.72% (-6.66% * 8) Hib loyalty.

Hib's relics come under attack and Fen sheds a single, musical tear as he has to log his Skald and return to Fenchanter. He defends Hibernia, but at great personal loss to his one true love: Midgard. Because of his RvR activity in Hibernia, his loyalty progress in Midgard is reset.

At Day 9, Fen has 0% Mid loyalty and ~50% Hib loyalty.
