Late September Update

Hey!

Quick update from behind the scenes with a couple of changes to our ruleset and some news regarding what to expect from the next testing phases.

RULESET CHANGES

XP SETTINGS
  • XP, RP and BP bonus in DF/SH/OF (Values TBD)
    Bonus will apply in other OF dungeons too.
OF TELEPORTER
  • The teleporters on the pad will now look for the medallion in the Mythical slot instead of the necklace.
    Thanks @Chysil for suggesting it.
HYBRID MELEES
  • Paladin, Reaver, Thane, Champion and Valewalker have now access to Determination up to level 3
    Charplanner updated.
GENERAL QOL CHANGES
  • /train
    This has been introduced a while ago but somehow didn't make through the patch-notes - apologies.

Full server settings.

DEV UPDATE

During pre-alpha it was clear that we couldn't rely on DOL and, as you all know, we have taken the decision to refactor the core solution to meet the expectations of a smooth, stable and reactive gameplay.
In poor man's word, we had to migrate all handlers for spells, skills, abilities, etc to a more performing code we needed to write from scratch.

Well.. the good news is that the majority of the stuff is now being handled by the new Core our amazing team developed and is working quite well, with huge improvements on performances and an overall reduction on the server load.
There are still few systems that need to be migrated but they can be progressed in parallel or at a later time.

Lastly, we are finishing up implementing OF RAs and only a few are left there.

DB/WORLD UPDATE

Since there's no public Classic DB available, our WB Team had to restore all Towns and NPCs to their 1.65 state referencing Prima Guides or old screenshots dug from the archives of the Internet.
This activity is almost complete as we are refining the last merchants item lists.

Screenshots don't give enough credit to the restoring efforts of the Team - we can't wait for you to explore it yourselves.

We have commenced configuring the keeps and relics and we expect it to be completed in the next week.

WHAT WE ARE DOING AND WHAT'S NEXT

We are mostly completing the last bug tickets and running XP groups to test the migrated mechanics.
Tickets are usually short-lived and the team is eager in testing and addressing the found issues - by this pace it won't be long before we can offer the next test.

Confident in the work done on the performances side, once we finish tidying up the last bugs and implementing OF RAs, we'll have a XP beta, where we'll make adjustments to mob camps, xp rates, drop rates etc - for the length of it we will decide as we go based on the feedbacks received.

During the XP beta there will be some i50 weekends aimed to specific areas of testing and i50 characters wipe at the end of it.
We'll share the details on this later on.

Once all mechanics and rates are refined, we'll have a final short i50 phase with a final wipe before launch.

Wow this is awesome. So excited for the xp beta and to be back immersed in the daoc world. Thank you atlas team!
